What it is used for: Anaemia.
Indications as listed by the manufacturer: Prevention & treatment of iron deficiency anaemia .
How it works: Iron protein succinylate is a form of the mineral iron. Iron is important for many functions in the body, especially for the transport of oxygen in the blood. Iron protein succinylate is used to treat iron deficiency anemia (a lack of red blood cells caused by having too little iron in the body). Folic acid is required for nucleoprotein synthesis and maintenance of normal erythropoiesis; precursor of tetrahydrofolic acid, which is necessary for transformylation reactions in the biosynthesis of purines and thymidylates of nucleic acids.
Active ingredient: Folic Acid , Iron Protein Succinylate.
Reported side effects: The side effects reported are occasional gastrointestinal irritation such as sensation of repletion, epigastric pain, nausea, constipation and diarrhea. There may be a dark coloration or black stools which is of no clinical significance. It does not cause teeth staining.
Known drug interactions: Phenytoin , Sulfasalazine.

Syrup : Children : Infants upto 1 yr, 2-3 tsp daily ; 1-2 yr , 3-6 tsp daily . TAB : Adults : 1 to 3 tab daily OR As directed by your physician .
Active ingredient: Folic Acid , Iron Protein Succinylate.
- Hypersensitive to any of the ingredients in the list .
- Since the iron is complex bound, ionic interactions with food components (phytin, oxalates, tannin etc.) and concomitant administration of drugs (tetracyclines, antacids) are unlikely to occur.
- During pregnancy and lactation Iron + Folic acid should be used only if clearly required after consultation with the physician.
- In case of overdosage, initially epigastric pain, diarrhea and vomiting can occur and may include metabolic acidosis, convulsions and coma after apparent recovery.
- In cases of anemia due to infections or malignancy, the substituted iron is stored in the reticulo-endithelial system, from which it is mobilized and utilized only after curing the primary disease.
Store this medicine at room temperature, away from direct light and heat.
