What it is used for: Migraine.
Indications as listed by the manufacturer: For treatment of acute migraine.
How it works: It contains sumatriptan, a 5-HT1 receptor agonist that mediates vasoconstriction of the human basilar artery and vasculature of human dura mater, which correlates with the relief of migraine headache. It also contains naproxen, an NSAID that inhibits the synthesis of inflammatory mediators. Therefore, sumatriptan and naproxen contribute to the relief of migraine through pharmacologically different mechanisms of action.
Active ingredient: Naproxen Sodium , Sumatriptan.
Reported side effects: Cardiac disorders: Chest pain . Gastrointestinal disorders: Diarrhea, dysgeusia, flatulence . General disorders: Asthenia, feeling hot, fatigue, feeling abnormal, lethargy . Metabolism and nutrition disorders: Thirst . Musculoskeletal and connective tissue: Neck pain, pain in jaw, muscular weakness, musculoskeletal stiffness, myalgia. Nervous system disorders: Tremor, burning sensation, headache, hyperesthesia, vertigo . Psychiatric disorders: Anxiety . Respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal: Nasal passage irritation, pharyngolaryngeal pain . Skin: hyperhidrosis . Vascular disorders: flushing.
Known drug interactions: Sumitriptan : Ergot-type medications (like dihydroergotamine or methysergide) , MAO Inhibitors , Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) and triptans , Other 5-HT1 agonists . Naproxen Sodium : ASA and ibuprofen , Antacids , Anti-coagulants , Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) , Beta-blockers , Albumin Bound Drugs , Anti-platelet Agents (including ASA) , Cholestyramine , Cyclosporin , Digoxin , Diuretics , Glucocorticoids , Lithium , Methotrexate , Probenecid.
Oral : Adults : 1 tab of 85/500mg . After 2 hrs , administer 2nd dose if response with first was not satisfactory . Max : 170/1000mg/day. Children = 12yr : 1 tab of 10/60mg daily. Max : 85/500mg daily. OR As directed by your physician.
