What it is used for: Constipation.
Indications as listed by the manufacturer: It belongs to a group of laxatives which soften stools if you are constipated, by causing water to be absorbed into the bowel. They also have a mild irritant action which causes you to have an urge to empty your bowels soon after using it.
How it works: Sodium citrate is an osmotic laxative, having faecal softening and lubricant properties. Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate is a wetting agent and surfactant. Glycerin rectal is used as a laxative. It works by causing the intestines to hold more water, which softens the stool.
Active ingredient: Sodium Citrate , Sodium Lauryl Sulphate , Glycerin.
Reported side effects: It may cause a slight feeling of cramp.
