What it is used for: Fungal Infection.
Indications as listed by the manufacturer: It used to treat a range of conditions which can't be treated with other antifungal medicines, including some fungal infections affecting the skin, mouth and throat
How it works: It works by stopping the growth of the fungus.
Active ingredient: Ketoconazole.
Reported side effects: Sudden swelling of the face or throat. Hives (also known as nettle rash or urticaria), severe irritation, reddening or blistering of your skin. Stomach pain, feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting) , Itching (pruritus) Headache , Diarrhoea , Skin rash or reddening , Sleepiness , Dizziness.
Known drug interactions: Warfarin , ciclosporin, busulphan and tacrolimus , methylprednisolone, budesonide, fluticasone or dexamethasone , dihydropyridines or verapamil , Indinavir and saquinivir , Nevirapine , Ritonavir , Midazolam.

Adults and children weighing more than 30 kilograms : The usual dose is one tablet taken once each day . Your doctor may increase the dose and tell you to take two tablets each day . Children weighing between 15 and 30 kilograms : One-half tablet taken once each day with a meal. Consult your doctor or Pharmacist for proper dosing.
Follow your doctor’s instructions. The dosage above is the usual range — your prescription takes precedence over it.
Active ingredient: Ketoconazole. Labelled strength: 200mg.
- Do not take ketoconazole : If you are allergic to anything in ketoconazole . If you are allergic to antifungal medicines called imidazole . If you have ever had liver problems.
- Always take ketoconazole with food as this helps your body to use the medicine.
- Ketoconazole contain lactose. If your doctor has told you that you are intolerant of some sugars, contact them before taking this medicine.
- Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
- There must be enough acid in your stomach to make sure that your body can use the medicine. Medicines for indigestion, stomach ulcers or heartburn can affect the stomach producing acid. For this reason you should wait two hours after taking ketoconazole before taking any of these other medicines.
Store this medicine at room temperature, away from direct light and heat.
