What it is used for: Wound Care.
Indications as listed by the manufacturer: Prevention and local treatment of wounds , varicose ulcers and burns . Prevents secondary infections and favours the healing of lesions .
How it works: It works by preventing infection and speeding up wound healing. Silver sulfadiazine releases silver ions that destroy bacterial cell membranes and DNA, stopping the growth of bacteria. At the same time, sodium hyaluronate keeps the wound moist, forms a protective layer, and promotes tissue repair, which helps the skin heal faster with less irritation.
Active ingredient: Silver Sulphadiazine + Sodium hyaluronate.
Reported side effects: It may cause mild side effects such as a burning or stinging sensation, itching, redness, irritation, mild pain at the application site, or temporary grayish/brown skin discoloration, which usually settles as the skin heals
Known drug interactions: Phenytoin, sulphonamides, oral hypoglycaemics, enzymatic debriding agents.

Apply in layer 3-5mm thick. Change dressing three times a wk for ulcers and daily for burns. Children : Upto 3 mnth, Not recommended , others , same as adult. Or As directed by your physician.

- Hypersensitivity to any components of this product.
- Caution is required in the presence of hypersensitivity to sulfonamides because of possible allergic reactions; in patients with inborn G-6-PD deficiency as hemolysis may occur after the application of the cream to the large body surface area; as well as in the presence of hepatic and renal dysfunction.
- When treatment with silver sulphadiazine cream involves prolonged administration or large burn surfaces, the white blood cell count should be monitored, as leukopenia may occur.
- As with other local antimicrobials, you may experience superinfection (re-inflammation after treatment of the same person) after treatment with silver sulfadiazine.
- The risk of severe skin reactions is highest during the first few weeks of treatment. If you experience skin rash or mentioned symptoms on the skin, please seek immediate medical advice and tell your doctor about using this medicine.
Store this medicine at room temperature, away from direct light and heat.
