What it is used for: Nasal Congestion.

Indications as listed by the manufacturer: It is indicated for the treatment of the symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis in patients 2 years of age and older .

How it works: Fluticasone furoate is a synthetic trifluorinated corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory activity. The precise mechanism through which fluticasone furoate affects rhinitis symptoms is not known. Corticosteroids have been shown to have a wide range of actions on multiple cell types (e.g. mast cells, eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, and lymphocytes) and mediators (e.g. histamine, eicosanoids, leukotrienes, and cytokines) involved in inflammation. These anti-inflammatory actions of corticosteroids may contribute to their efficacy in rhinitis.

Active ingredient: Fluticasone Furoate.

Reported side effects: Nosebleeds (generally minor), particularly if you use this nasal spray for more than 6 weeks continuously • Nasal ulceration – which may cause irritation or discomfort in your nose. You may also get streaks of blood when you blow your nose. • Headache. • Shortness of breath • Pain, burning, irritation, soreness or dryness in the inside of the nose • Small holes (perforations) in the ridge inside the nose that separates the nostrils .

Known drug interactions: Steroid tablets or injected steroids • Steroid creams • Medicines for asthma • Ritonavir or cobicistat, used to treat HIV • Ketoconazole, used to treat fungal infections .

Adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older : The recommended dosage is two sprays in each nostril once daily . Pediatrics (2 to < 12 years of age) : The recommended starting dosage is one spray in each nostril once daily . OR As directed by your physician.
