What it is used for: Epilepsy.
Indications as listed by the manufacturer: Lacosamide is indicated as a monotherapy in the treatment of partial-onset seizures in patients with epilepsy aged 17 years and older.
How it works: The precise mechanism by which Lacosamide exerts its antiepileptic effects in humans remains to be fully elucidated. In vitro electrophysiological studies have shown that lacosamide selectively enhances slow inactivation of voltage-gated sodium channels, resulting in stabilization of hyperexcitable neuronal membranes and inhibition of repetitive neuronal firing. Lacosamide binds to collapsin response mediator protein-2 (CRMP-2), a phosphoprotein which is mainly expressed in the nervous system and is involved in neuronal differentiation and control of axonal doutgrowth. The role of CRMP-2 binding in seizure control is unknown.
Active ingredient: Lacosamide.
Reported side effects: The adverse events most commonly (>1% in the Lacosamide total group and greater than placebo) leading to discontinuation were dizziness, ataxia, vomiting, diplopia, nausea, vertigo, and vision blurred.
Known drug interactions: Medicines to treat heart problems , carbamazepine, lamotrigine or pregabalin , medicines used to treat certain types of irregular heart beat or heart failure , fluconazole, itraconazole or ketoconazole , ritonavir , clarithromycin or rifampicin , a herbal medicine used to treat mild anxiety and depression called St. John’s wort.
Partial-Onset Seizures: Lacosamide can be initiated with either oral or intravenous administration. The initial dose should be 50mg twice daily (100mg per day). It can be increased at weekly intervals by 100mg/day given as two divided doses up to the recommended maintenance dose of 200 to 400 mg/day, based on individual patient response and tolerability OR As directed by your physician.
Active ingredient: Lacosamide. Labelled strength: 100mg.

Effective, but it took closer to two months than the four weeks I was hoping for.
Does the job, though the pack is smaller than I expected — worth checking the size before ordering.
Good value for the pack size. I compared prices across three sites before ordering.
Works as expected. Took about three weeks to notice a difference, which the product page had already told me to expect.
