Ivermite 6mg Tablets

What it is used for: Parasitic Infection.

Indications as listed by the manufacturer: It is an antiparasitic medicine used to treat the following infection: • Treatment of intestinal strongyloidiasis. • Treatment of parasites in the blood or tissue caused by Wuchereria bancrofti. • Treatment of human scabies after prior treatment has failed.

How it works: It belongs to a group of medicines called an anthelmintic, these are medicines which bind to the nerve and muscle cells of parasites, resulting in their death.

Active ingredient: Ivermectin.

Reported side effects: Allergic reactions If you have an allergic reaction see a doctor straight away. The signs may include: • Sudden fever • sudden skin reactions (such as rash or itching) or other serious skin reactions • difficulty breathing. See a doctor straight away if you notice any of the side effects above. Other side effects: • Liver disease (acute hepatitis). • Changes in some laboratory tests (increase of liver enzymes, increase of bilirubin in blood, increase of eosinophils). • Blood in urine.

Known drug interactions: Diethylcarbamazine citrate (DEC) (a medicine used in the treatment of lymphatic filariasis) • Warfarin (a medicine used to prevent blood clots) .

Adults & Children : 15kg or above body weight : Strongloidiasis : 200mcg/kg as a single dose; follow up stool examinations. Onchocerciasis : 150mcg/kg as a single dose; re-treatment may be required every 3-12mnth until the adult worms die. OR A s directed by your physician.

Active ingredient: Ivermectin. Labelled strength: 6mg.
