What it is used for: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

How it works: Myo-Inositol works by 2 ways : 1- By improving insulin sensitivity Myo-Inositol decreases the insulin resistance . Myo-Inositol acts as secondary messenger of the conduction of signals that enhances the sensitivity of insulin receptors located on cell membrane. Thus decreasing the elevated levels of insulin in the blood, regulation the hormonal levels & menstrual cycle. 2- By improving the oocytes quality Myo-Inositol is an important component of the growing follicle. It has been observed that abundant levels of Myo-Inositol in follicular fluid is an indication of good quality oocytes. In vitro,it has been shown that the addition of Myo-Inositol to the culture medium of murine oocytes improves the meiotic progression & maturation of the oocytes . Scientific evidence demonstrates that Myo-Inositol can change some hormonal parameters such as the reduction in plasma levels of LH, testoterone, prolactin & LH/FSH ratio. Furthermore, its biological role includes a specific activity to control the metabolism of fats & sugar and cellular function of the nervous system. Myo-Inositol also recovers a regular menstrual cycle because of its modulatin action on the ovaries. Myo-Inositol is included into the protocols of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation. Folic acid: Folic acid plays an important role in metabolism of amino acids, synthesis of proteins and nucleic acid. It is an essential vitamin to take during pregnancy to prevents birth defects known as neural tube defacts. It is also used in anaemia due to folic acid deficiency.

Reported side effects: Orally, Myo-Inositol is generally well tolerated. It may cause nausea, tiredness, headache and dizziness.
