What it is used for: Pain & Inflammation.
Indications as listed by the manufacturer: It is used to treat shock following surgery, injuries, hypersensitivity (anaphylactic) reactions or other stressful conditions.
How it works: Hydrocortisone sodium succinate has the same metabolic and anti-inflammatory actions as hydrocortisone. When given parenterally and in equimolar quantities, the two compounds are equivalent in biologic activity. The highly water-soluble sodium succinate ester of hydrocortisone permits the immediate intravenous administration of high doses of hydrocortisone in a small volume of diluent and is particularly useful where high blood levels of hydrocortisone are required rapidly. Following the intravenous injection of hydrocortisone sodium succinate, demonstrable effects are evident within one hour and persist for a variable period.
Active ingredient: Hydrocortisone sodium succinate.
Reported side effects: Allergic reactions, such as skin rash, swelling of the face or wheezing and difficulty breathing. This type of side effect is rare, but can be serious. • Acute pancreatitis, stomach pain which may spread through to your back, possibly accompanied by vomiting, shock and loss of consciousness. • Ulcers or bleeding ulcers, symptoms of which are severe stomach pain which may go through to the back and could be associated with bleeding from the back passage, black or bloodstained stools and/or vomiting blood • Pulmonary embolus (blood clot in the lung) symptoms include sudden sharp chest pain, breathlessness and coughing up blood. • Raised pressure within the skull of children (pseudotumour cerebri) symptoms of which are headaches with vomiting, lack of energy and drowsiness. This side effect usually occurs after treatment is stopped. • Thrombophlebitis (blood clots or thrombosis in a leg vein), symptoms of which include painful swollen, red and tender veins.

Exactly what my doctor prescribed. The pharmacist called to confirm the strength before dispatch, which I appreciated.
The product is genuine but did not suit me personally. Customer service handled the return without any argument.

Fine quality, wrong choice on my part — I should have asked the pharmacist first about the strength.
Works as expected. Took about three weeks to notice a difference, which the product page had already told me to expect.
