Indications as listed by the manufacturer: Recombinant Human Interleukin-11, commonly known as IL-11, is a medication used to stimulate the production of platelets in patients who are undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy for certain types of cancer, such as non-myeloid malignancies. It helps prevent severe thrombocytopenia (low platelet count), reducing the risk of bleeding complications and the need for platelet transfusions.

How it works: IL-11 stimulates stem cells, megakaryocytes, myeloid precursors, and erythroid precursors, as well as promoting B-cell differentiation. It also acts on nonhematopoietic cells, including bone and liver cells. IL-11 is induced by proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1, TNF) and by TGF-ß.

Reported side effects: Edema , Headache , Fever & Neutropenic Fever , Increased Heart Rate , Vasodilation And Irregular Heart Rhythm , Nausea , Vomiting , Gi Fungal Infections , Dizziness , Insomnia , Shortness Of Breath , Flu-like Symptoms , Cough , Pharyngitis , Pleural Effusion , Rash , Paresthesia , Dehydration , Discoloration Of Skin , Exfoliative Dermatitis And Hemorrhage From Eye Conjunctival Congestion And Transient Blurred Vision.

By Sc Inj : Adults: 25-50 g/kg Given Once Daily; Course Of Treatment Is Generally 14-21 Days OR As directed by your physician .
