What it is used for: Bacterial Infection.
Indications as listed by the manufacturer: It is used to treat serious infections caused by germs (bacteria). - To help prevent serious infections during and after surgery.
How it works: Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic with a primarily bacteriostatic action against Gram-positive aerobes and a wide range of anaerobic bacteria. Lincosamides such as clindamycin bind to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome similarly to macrolides such as erythromycin and inhibit protein synthesis. The action of clindamycin is predominantly bacteriostatic although high concentrations may be slowly bactericidal against sensitive strains. Although clindamycin phosphate is inactive in vitro, rapid in vivo hydrolysis converts this compound to the antibacterially active clindamycin .
Active ingredient: Clindamycin HCl.
Reported side effects: Common: may affect up to 1 in 10 people: Abnormal liver function tests (poor liver function) , pain in the stomach / abdomen, diarrhoea . Uncommon: May affect up to 1 in 100 people : Feeling sick or being sick (throwing up) , rash characterized by a flat red area on the skin that is covered with small bumps, hives . Not known: Frequency cannot be estimated from the available data: Infection inside and around the vagina , inflammation of the large intestine which causes abdominal pain, fever or diarrhoea due to infection by Clostridium difficile. A more severe decrease in a specific class of white blood cell (agranulocytosis), a reduction in the number of white blood cells (leucopenia), a decrease in the number of white blood cells (neutropenia), a reduced number of platelets in the blood (thrombocytopenia), an increase in the number of white blood cells (eosinophilia) , changes in the way things taste , inflammation of the lining of the oesophagus (gullet), open sores or lesions in the lining of the oesophagus (gullet) .
Known drug interactions: Keratolytics , neuromuscular blocking agents , erythromycin , Vit k antagonists.
Adults: 150 mg every 6 hours. Moderately severe infections: 300 mg every 6 hours. Severe infections: 450 mg every 6 hours. Children (over one month of age and able to swallow capsules): One of the following two dosage ranges should be selected depending on the severity of the infection: 1. 8-16 mg/kg/day (4-8 mg/lb/day) divided into 3 or 4 equal doses. 2. 16-20 mg/kg/day (8-10 mg/lb/day) divided into 3 or 4 equal doses. Always consult from your doctor or pharmacist for dose adjustments.
Follow your doctor’s instructions. The dosage above is the usual range — your prescription takes precedence over it.

Good value for the pack size. I compared prices across three sites before ordering.
Been using this for a few months now. Ordering here is cheaper than my local shop and the packing is always careful.
Fine quality, wrong choice on my part — I should have asked the pharmacist first about the strength.

Exactly what my doctor prescribed. The pharmacist called to confirm the strength before dispatch, which I appreciated.
