What it is used for: Blood Clot.
Indications as listed by the manufacturer: 1. Treatment of ischemic symptoms including ulceration , pain and coldness of the extremities, in chronic arterial occlusion (Buerger's disease. arteriosclerosis obliterans, diabetic peripheral angiopathy).2. Prevention of recurrence of cerebral infarction (excluding cardiogenic cerebral embolism).
How it works: Cilostazol and several of its metabolites are cyclic AMP (cAMP) phosphodiesterase III inhibitors (PDE III inhibitors), inhibiting phosphodiesterase activity and suppressing cAMP degradation with a resultant increase in cAMP in platelets and blood vessels, leading to inhibition of platelet aggregation and vasodilation.
Active ingredient: Cilostazol.
Reported side effects: Headache , diarrhoea , abnormal stools , ecchymosis , oedema , dizziness , palpitation , tachycardia, angina , arrhythmia , ventricular extrasystole , rhinitis , GI upset , anorexia , pharyngitis , rash , pruritius , chest pain , asthaenia . Reports of blood dyscrasias.
Known drug interactions: Cimetidine , diltiazem , erythromycin , clarithromycin , ketoconazole , lansoprazole , omeprazole , protease inhibitors , cisapride , midazolam , nifedipine , verapamil , other inhibitors or substrates of CYP3A4 or 2C19 . Highly protein bound drugs , hypotensive agents , aspirin , antiplatelets , clopidogrel , anticoagulants , vasodilators , statins , pimozide , ergot derivatives , inducers of CYP3A4 or 2C19 ( e.g., anticonvulsants , rifampicin , St. John's wort ).

Adults : 100mg twice daily 30 min before or 2 hr after breakfast and evening meal . Dose 50mg twice daily are used with certain drugs . Children : Not recommeneded . OR As directed by your physician .
Active ingredient: Cilostazol. Labelled strength: 100mg.
- Severe renal impairment , moderate to severe hepatic impairement , congestive herat failure , predisposition to bleeding , history of ventricular tachycardia , multifocal ventricular ectopics or severe tachycardia . QTc prolongation , unstable angina , recent MI or coronary intervention
- Attention should be paid to cerebral infarction patients wno are receiving other anti-platelet agents, or to hypertension patients, whose blood pressure should be well- controlled during treatment.
- Cilostazol may cause dizziness and patients should be warned to exercise caution before they drive or operate machinery.
- Cilostazol should not be administered to patients with cerebral infarction until their condition has stabilized.
Store this medicine at room temperature, away from direct light and heat.
