What it is used for: Hypertension.
Indications as listed by the manufacturer: Treatment of hypertension and chronic stable angina pectoris.
How it works: Cilnidipine blocks L-type and N-type calcium channels, providing enhanced blood pressure reduction and kidney protection.
Active ingredient: Cilnidipine.
Reported side effects: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, heartburn, abdominal pain/distention/discomfort, constipation, epigastric distress, headache, dizziness, angina, MI, reflex tachycardia, peripheral oedema (dose dependent). Rarely, symptomatic hypotension (with or without syncope), thrombocytopenia, AV block, extrasystoles, dry eye syndrome, eye pain, gingival hyperplasia, lethargy, malaise, shivering, jaundice, abnormal creatine kinase levels, ECG abnormality, abnormal LFTs, insomnia, amnesia, proteinuria, urinary frequency, urine sedimentation abnormality, rash, pruritus, rubor, photosensitivity, hyperaemia, facial flushing.
Known drug interactions: Cimetidine. Azole antifungal agents (e.g. miconazole, itraconazole).

Active ingredient: Cilnidipine. Labelled strength: 10mg.
- Hypersensitivity to the drug or other dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers, severe hypotension, cardiogenic shock, severe aortic stenosis, and use with caution/avoid in severe hepatic impairment. It is also generally avoided in unstable angina or during acute myocardial infarction unless specifically advised by a physician.
- The drug should not be used in patients with severe hypotension.
- It is contraindicated in patients with cardiogenic shock.
- It should be avoided in patients with severe aortic stenosis.
- The drug should be used with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) impairment, as metabolism may be reduced.
Store this medicine at room temperature, away from direct light and heat.
