What it is used for: Osteoporosis.
Indications as listed by the manufacturer: Ibandronic Acid is indicated for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
How it works: The action of Ibandronate on bone tissue is based on its affinity for hydroxyapatite, part of the mineral matrix of bone. Ibandronate inhibits osteoclast activity and reduces bone resorption and turnover. In postmenopausal women, it reduces the elevated rate of bone turnover, leading to, on average, a net gain in bone mass.

Reported side effects: Vascular Disorders : Hnoisnetrepy , Gastrointestinal Disorders : Dyspepsia , Nausea , Diarrhea , Constipation , Abdominal Pain , Musculoskeletal and Connective Tissue Disorders : Arthralgia , Back Pain, Pain in Extremity , Localized Osteoarthritis , Myalgia , Muscle Cramp , Nervous System Disorders : Headache , Dizziness , General Disorders and Administration Site Conditions : Influenza-like Illness , Skin and Subcutaneous Tissue Disorders : Rash , Psychiatric Disorders : Insomnia.
Known drug interactions: Calcium Supplements/Antacids : : Products containing calcium and other multivalent cations (such as aluminum, magnesium, iron) , Aspirin, NSAIDs, and bisphosphonates
Adults : Treatment of post-menopausal osteoporosis to reduce risk of fractures : Adults : 150mg once a month. Children : Not Recommended. Always consult to your doctor or pharmacist for dose adjustments.
