What it is used for: Anaemia.
Indications as listed by the manufacturer: Mecobalamin is indicated for the treatment of: 1. Peripheral neuropathies. 2. Megaloblastic anemia caused by vitamin B12 deficiency.
How it works: 1. Mecobalamin is the one and only homologue of Vitamin B12 found in the brain that participates in transmethylation. It exhibits neuropathologically and electrophysiologically inhibitory effects on nerve degeneration in neuropathies induced by drugs such as adriamycin, acrylamide and vincristine.
