How it works: Azilsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten. As a result, azilsartan relaxes the blood vessels. This lowers blood pressure and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.
Active ingredient: Azilsartan Medoxomil.
Reported side effects: Orthostatic hypotension , dizziness , fatigue , diarrhoea , nausea , decreased hemoglobin , decreased hematocrit , decreased RBC , muscle spasm , weakness , increased serum creatinine , cough .
Known drug interactions: Amifostine , cyclosporine , lithium , NSAIDs , anti-inflammatory agents , K-sparing diuretics , rituximab , sodium phosphate , alfuzosin , aliskiren , diazoxide , eplerenone , MAO inhibitors , potassium salts , prostacyclin analogues , tolvaptan , trimethoprim , methylphenidate , rifamycin derivatives .

- Severe sweating, diarrhea, or vomiting may cause dehydration and cause you to feel lightheaded. Tell your doctor if you have severe diarrhea or vomiting. To prevent dehydration, drink plenty of fluids unless your doctor tells you not to.
- This drug may make you dizzy. Alcohol or marijuana (cannabis) can make you more dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely. Limit alcoholic beverages. Talk to your doctor if you are using marijuana (cannabis).
- Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: dehydration, high level of potassium in the blood.
Store this medicine at room temperature, away from direct light and heat.
