Tofacitinib inhibits the process of intracellular signalling from the receptor to the cellular nucleus and inhibits the inflammation process.
It is used for the treatment of the following inflammatory diseases: • Rheumatoid arthritis • Psoriatic arthritis • Ulcerative colitis • Ankylosing spondylitis • Polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis and juvenile psoriatic arthritis.
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis: The recommended dose is 5 mg twice a day, Psoriatic arthritis: The recommended dose is 5 mg twice a day , Ankylosing spondylitis: The recommended dose is 5 mg twice a day, Ulcerative colitis: The recommended dose is 10 mg twice a day for 8 weeks, followed by 5 mg twice a day, Polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis and juvenile psoriatic arthritis: The recommended dose is 5 mg twice a day for patients =40 kg or as presciribed by your physician.
Tofacitinib
- Tell your physician right away if you start to have swelling of your face, lips, tongue, throat, arms, or legs or if you are having trouble swallowing or breathing.
- Tofacitinib can temporarily lower the number of white blood cells in your blood, increasing the chance of getting an infection.
- This medicine may increase your risk of developing blood clots (eg, arterial thrombosis, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism).
Store this medicine at room temperature, away from direct light and heat.
