What it is used for: Diabetes Management.

Indications as listed by the manufacturer: It is indicated to improve glycemic control in adults with diabetes mellitus.

How it works: The primary activity of insulin, is regulation of glucose metabolism. Insulin and its analogs lower blood glucose by stimulating peripheral glucose uptake, especially by skeletal muscle and fat, and by inhibiting hepatic glucose production. Insulin also inhibits lipolysis and proteolysis, and enhances protein synthesis. The insulin degludec component in forms multi-hexamers when injected into the subcutaneous tissue resulting in a subcutanous insulin degludec depot. The protracted time action profile of RYZODEG 70/30 is predominantly due to delayed absorption of insulin degludec from the subcutaneous tissue to the systemic circulation and to a lesser extent due to binding of insulin-degludec to circulating albumin. Insulin aspart monomers are released rapidly into the circulation.

Active ingredient: Insulin degludec , Insulin Aspart.

Reported side effects: Hypoglycemia , generalized skin reactions, angioedema, bronchospasm, hypotension, and shock , injection site reactions, including injection site hematoma, pain, hemorrhage, erythema, nodules, swelling, discoloration, pruritis, warmth, and injection site mass , Weight gain , Peripheral Edema .
